The headstock can be either a traditional "scroll" which I call the "box scroll" because the tuning machines are contained within a "box" or it can be the lighter, more modern looking "Elite" headstock. I also offer a "Laminated Scroll" headstock for a small extra charge.

My dulcimers come standard with gold Shaller tuners (left) with black buttons. Even nicer are the 5-Star planetary tuners on the right.

If you like, I can inlay fret markers at the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 10th, 12th, and 14th fret. The dots can be mother of pearl, abalone shell, or contrasting wood.

At your request I will add a 6 1/2 fret and a 13 1/2 fret for no extra charge. The 6 1/2 fret is shown here by the placement of a guitar pick.

Additional frets beyond those two can be added for $3 per fret. All my dulcimers have a full two octave fretboard

The "Crop Circle" inspired f-holes are available as our standard design at no additional cost.

The photo on the right shows 2 dulcimers in the shop ready top have their bindings scraped and sanded. One is a crop circle style, the other has Benedetto inspired flourish soundholes.

Other designs will be quoted on a per instrument basis.

The sound board of your dulcimer can be Sitka Spruce which has a rich full tone and is lighter in color (as with the bottom instrument) or Western Red Cedar which is slightly darker both in color and tone (the upper instrument)

Selected hardwoods are also available.

I can bind the edge of your dulcimer with 4 or 8 layer binding. The first photo shows an 8 layer binding of black-white-black, green, black-white-black, and then hand made bocote binding.

The 2nd photo shows black-white-black perfling with hand made paduak binding.
